Janina Fialkowska will delight you in Ravel’s Concerto in G, and the unheard Schubert 10th will fascinate you- especially since Schubert was the first after Beethoven to die after nine symphonies. Shosakovich told Stalin’s regime that he would write another work on the scale of Beethoven’s 9th but created quite a shock with his witty and ironic 9th.
