The elegant 1416-seat Royal Theatre has graced the skyline of the capital region since 1913 and serves as Vancouver Island’s largest premier venue for the performing arts. While preserving its original Rocco/Renaissance Revival style décor, the Royal Theatre elegantly fuses 19th century architecture with 21st century technology, enabling it to host a variety of arts and entertainment options, from Broadway tours to drag shows, dance to comedy, opera to jazz and symphony to rock concerts.

Wheelchair Seating
The Royal Theatre & McPherson Playhouse are wheelchair accessible on the main floor only. The Royal has 10 wheelchair locations and the McPherson has 8, which are located at the back of the main floor. In order to book the wheelchair seats for a performance, please contact our Box Office at 250.386.6121 or toll-free at 1.888.717.6121.

Elevator
There is no elevator at the Royal Theatre or McPherson Playhouse.

Assistance with Seating
If you require assistance in seating, particularly if you use a wheelchair or a walker, please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time and our staff will be happy to assist you.

Handydart
If you need to obtain a performance running time in order to book the Handydart, please visit the event detail page on our website as we update that page as soon as we receive the running time. If there is no running time listed please contact our Box Office at 250.386.6121 or toll-free at 1.888.717.6121 and they can endeavor to assist.

Hearing Assistance Devices
The Royal Theatre and McPherson Playhouse are equipped with Sennheiser Infra-Red Assistive Listening Systems. Patrons can be provided either a headset or a neck-loop and receiver for “T-Coil” equipped personal hearing aids, or cochlear implants. The receiver also has a 1/8" audio jack for those patrons who may prefer to use their own headphones. Please ask one of our theatre staff for more information.
