Alfons Fear is a versatile trumpet player. A native of Victoria, Alfons performs jazz, classical, and contemporary music. He has a B.Mus. (2014) from the University of Victoria majoring in music composition and a diploma in jazz studies from Humber College (1994). At UVIC Alfons studied composition with John Celona and studied trumpet pedagogy with Lou Ranger.
Alfons has participated in the Victoria, Vancouver and Toronto International Jazz Festivals and has performed with numerous ensembles in Victoria and Toronto including: The Victoria Jazz Orchestra, The Woodchoppers Association, Zeebradonk, The Sooke Philharmonic and The Scott White Quartet.
Alfons has shared the stage with many great musicians including Maria Schneider, Hugh Fraser, Dave Douglas, Rob McConnell, Eliadas Ochoa, Mike Herriott, P.J. Perry and Ian McDougall. Presently (2014) Alfons is residing in Victoria after a summer in Armstrong BC performing with the Caravan Farm Theatre.
As a teacher Alfons strives to create routines for students that are unique to that student’s development and needs. He stresses the importance of a solid understanding of fundamentals and how they apply to great music making. The atmosphere of a lesson is relaxed, fun and educational.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
