Emily Braden was clearly destined to be on stage. Her improvisational flair and feeling for the blues caught the ear of Juno nominee Harry Manx, who used her on three of his CDs. Locally she headlines a variety of jazz trios and is a featured vocalist with Sean Drabitt and his Jaco Pastorius tribute band. Enormously creative and versatile, Braden is both an excellent interpreter of lyrics and a passionate performer who effortlessly shifts from ballads and scat-based improv to R&B scorchers and sensuous Latin tunes. Her all-star “friends” include Brent Jarvis piano, Sean Drabitt bass, Josh Dixon drums, Nick La Riviere trombone, Alfons Fear trumpet and Roy Styffe alto saxophone. Don’t be surprised to see some other special friends at this late-night performance!
