Jim Cuddy's The Light That Guides You Home is available in stores today from Warner Music. The second solo album from the Blue Rodeo frontman, it has been eight years since the release of Cuddy's first solo album, All In Time.

"Blue Rodeo had finished playing and I had written a few songs," says Cuddy discussing the timing of the record. "Carving out time is difficult but about a year and a half ago, I knew we had this window coming up."

The Light That Guides You Home was recorded in Toronto at The Woodshed Studio and produced by Jim Cuddy and Colin Cripps (Kathleen Edwards, Oh Susanna, Junkhouse). Joining Cuddy in the studio were Colin on guitar, Bazil Donovan on bass (Blue Rodeo and whoever asks), Bob Packwood on keyboards (Blue Rodeo, Oh Susanna), Joel Anderson on drums (Kathleen Edwards) and Anne Lindsay on violin. These talented musicians will be joining Cuddy on tour as The Jim Cuddy Band. Guests on the record include Kathleen Edwards who joins Jim on the rowdy duet "Married Again" and Oh Susanna who provides jubilant and, in turn, haunting vocals on "Falling" and "What She Said". These musicians have created a timeless record that speaks to joy, disappointment and the fickle hand of fate. His voice, always a voluptuous instrument, has never sounded better and Cuddy shows that his songwriting ranks with the best Canada has to offer.

The Light That Guides You Home was recorded throughout the Spring of 2006. Jim says that the album's twelve songs are more intimate than fans of Blue Rodeo might be used to. Indeed, the plaintive sound of a voice, a piano and a trumpet on the album's lead single, "Pull Me Through," strip the song to its very essence and pull the listener in. In the early days of its release to radio, "Pull Me Through" is already showing signs of repeating the cross-over radio success of Blue Rodeo classics such as "Try" and "Bulletproof."

"I tried to write songs specifically for this album," he says. "I got on a path I could stay on, unlike with Blue Rodeo where Greg might hear something and I'll veer off that path. As a result, the songs ended up being more personal. There are songs about specific people I know, songs which I probably would have taken a step back from had it been with Blue Rodeo."

The diversity of The Light That Guides You Home draws on much of the music that has influenced Cuddy over the years. The album soars from the country-tinged "Countrywide Soul" to the ebullient pop of "One Fine Day" to the full-throttle rolling rock of "Stagger In".

The Jim Cuddy Band are heading out across Canada on an extensive tour in October/November. In 2007, Blue Rodeo will begin recording their eleventh studio album. Not to be outdone, Jim's songwriting partner, Greg Keelor will release his third solo recording, Aphrodite Rose, on October 10, 2006 followed by his own tour with The Sadies, later that month.

Justin Rutledge, tagged “a master of gothic understatement” by UNCUT, returns with his highly anticipated sophomore album, entitled The Devil On A Bench In Stanley Park.

On the heels of his critically acclaimed debut, No Never Alone, hailed by the UK’s NME as “an incredible breakthrough,” Justin Rutledge delivers another lushly orchestrated, vividly poetic Canadian Americana masterpiece.
