Event Description
FIDO and R.E.M.G. presents the compelling rock singer, Hawksley Workman.
Hawksley Workman grew up in rural Ontario and began music as a drummer, but went on to play multiple instruments to the point where he played and sang all parts on his records. Along with his music, Hawksley Workman has gone on to release a book Hawksley Burns For Isadora (Gutter Press, 2001).
In 2001 Hawksley Workman released his debut album For Him and the Girls. During the making of this album, Workman played virtually every note in addition to recording the album in his own home studio. Released in Canada in 1999, the album received critical raves in that country and in the United Kingdom, where Workman spent considerable time touring. Following the critical acclaim of his debut album Workman released the album Delicious Wolves in 2001. This album also saw Workman playing almost every instrument while recording.
Hawksley Workman's 2003 album Lover-Fighter saw initial mainstream success for the young artist. This album contained his hit single "Anger as Beauty" which peaked at number 29 on the Canadian Singles Chart on Billboards.
Recently, Hawksley Workman released his latest album Treeful of Starling. The album has seen strong sales since its release. Some critics have deemed his latest work to be his best album yet, and that Hawksley Workman is "at the top of his game" (umusic.ca) with his work on this album.
On Friday September 15 2006, come hear Hawksley Workman performing live at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
