Event Description
20th Annual Victoria Fringe to kick off with huge, cheap, downtown rock show!
Victoria BC....The 20th Annual Victoria Fringe Festival will open on Tuesday, August 22 with the largest single event in the festival’s history: a free, outdoor concert featuring Ridley Bent, Big John Bates & the Voodoo Dollz, and Victoria locals Hank & Lily. The show, at Open Air in Centennial Square from 7pm-10pm, will feature Fringe-style rockabilly, burlesque, gee-tars and mayhem. Admission is free to anyone with a 2006 Fringe button. Fringe buttons are available for purchase at the gate for $5. The 20th Anniversary Concert is hosted by Fringefest performers Matthew Payne (Theatre SKAM), and Michael Delamont (Cannibal! The Musical)
“We selected a musical line-up that reflects the spirit of our festival,” says Fringe staffer Nathan Medd. “Each of these groups is sure to leave something a little spiked or provocative on the stage. We have wanted to present Hank & Lily for a year or two. They held a crazy Halloween show in the Metro Studio last fall, where they spilled litres of pumpkin guts and fake blood all over the venue. It was theatrical and messy and totally rocking. What better way to celebrate the Fringe’s 20th birthday!”
