Event Description
Four Hours is a weekly live electronic jam that seems to get more diverse with each show. A bunch of local artists team up and bring their live gear. Any style goes, from complete beatless ambience to forceful rhythmic chaos. Pema from lotusboy.com is the proprietor, and he can be reached at [email protected] with questions.
LAST WEEK was an incredible tour de force through the possibilities of IDM, downtempo, synthpop, hip hop, newschool glitchy techno, ambient and abstract rhythm....
My favourite elements were during Nathan's takeover of my PowerBook, during which time Nick and I were putting Nick's guitar through Nathan's vocoder, and modulating it with the microphone signal, I did some rapping through the vocoder, Nick, Glenn and I were playing riffs from different styles of rock to Nathan's beats, Glenn was messing with his huge bank of guitar pedals... it was crazy and sounded great. We accidentally cut power to the whole system twice, but this time we're gonna have measures in place to prevent that sort of thing.
Plans for this week include: instead of ending with an ambient outro, we're gonna build up to a crazy drum n bass orgy, because the drum n bass has to come back. Every Four Hours show is different that way. Recordings will soon be online at lotusboy.com and CDs of last week's jam will be available for sale at this week's show.
Glenn's going to bring his electric guitar, so we'll have two of them, some homies who showed up at last week's show are gonna bring a bunch of oldschool analog synthesizers and play them, and Bryce is going to show up and play pedalsteel.
I'm really looking forward to this week's show, and I hope you'll stop by and check it out. We play from 7 to 11 PM.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
