The PAINTED BIRDS - Formerly known as Spark That Screams, their innovative wall-to-wall sound garnered them comparisons to Radiohead and Godspeed You Black Emperor. Crafting psychedelic rock infused with electronica and a unique combination of theremin, flute, cello, and sequencer, be sure to catch the band's reunion show in their latest incarnation, unveiling their new sound and brand new tunes as the Painted Birds this evening! ELIAS delivers a stellar mix of dark, moody vocal melodies, original guitar riffs and haunting keyboards, "making the kind of pulsating, loud rock that the Mars Volta or Radiohead might approve of in equal turns" according to Spin.com, who recently ranked them as one of 8 must-hear bands from Vancouver. Be treated to some of the band's tasty new tunes at their tour kic- off party this special evening before they pack up their van and hit the road! (9:30pm) http://www.eliasband.com
The GLIM PROJECT is a full out rock band; a unique, hyper-energetic mish mash that cannot easily fit into one category in today's rock scene. Too progressive to get radio play, not progressive enough to be considered prog rock... too loud and aggressive for the hipsters, but not enough for extreme metal heads. Furious guitars loop around heavy percussive drumming, while galloping bass riffs cut right down the middle. Visually, it's quite a feast, as the band pours out every bit of energy they have in bringing their creations to life. (11:30pm)
