When The Black Crowes debuted with Shake Your Money Maker in 1990, the band's Rolling Stones swagger and Faces boogie was decidedly out of style. But the success of that debut, spurred on by the Otis Redding cover "Too Hot to Handle" and the ballad "She Talks to Angels", catapulted the record into the Top Ten and multi-platinum sales. Suddenly, The Black Crowes were a force to be reckoned with, and vintage classic rock sounds were once again in the charts.
Over the next few years the Atlanta-born band, fronted by vocalist Chris Robinson and his brother Rich on guitar, built on the inroads made by that first record. Successful albums such as Amorica and By Your Side, as well as ecstatically received concerts made The Black Crowes a household name.
A double-disc collaboration with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page introduced the group to new fans while Lions, The Crowes' 2001 album, was hailed by some as their best yet. A summer tour with Oasis followed, and then The Crowes went on a lengthy hiatus. Reappearing on the concert scene just last year, the band was as hot as ever with a renewed line-up and commitment to its music. Freak N Roll... Into the Fog, a just-released DVD of a filmed Fillmore Auditorium show last August, and another tour makes it official: The Black Crowes are back.
