Taking a break from headlining this year’s
Taste of Chaos tour, the Deftones will perform a very special “one-off-show” live at the Commodore Ballroom
Of all the acts that have been tagged with the "nu-metal" label in the past decade none has challenged the boundaries of the genre more than Deftones. Incorporating trip-hop, dream-pop and D.C. hardcore into their sound, the Sacramento, California 5-piece has become one of the most respected and revered bands in contemporary rock thanks to stunning live performances and its four studio albums.
Beginning with 1994's Adrenaline and continuing with 1997's gold-selling Around the Fur, 2000’s Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum White Pony and 2003's self-titled disc, the Deftones have carved their own niche into the music scene with the combined might of their hard-hitting sound and their adventurous spirit.
Last year's B-Sides and Rarities showed just how diverse the band is. Sure, it's just a stopgap before Deftones unleash their long-awaited fifth studio full-length, but in the meantime where else are you going to find a record that encompasses covers of both dream-pop act Cocteau Twins and Southern rock act Lynyrd Skynyrd, of hardcore alternative band Helmet and mellow chanteuse Sade? Only on a disc by Deftones, a rock band that makes its own rules.
