Event Description
When Fern Flowers Bloom is a tale of love, loss, and transitions told through traditional Latvian folklore, poetry, and symbolism. Nāve, the Goddess of Death, has just received word that Fall is coming but struggles to follow through with her responsibility when she discovers that the time has also come for her lover Jāņis, the incarnation of Summer and its Solstice celebration. Over the course of one last intimate date night, we see how each character processes and finally accepts their fate by either holding on to their traditions or creating new ones.
About the Artist
The Lighter Touch Art Collective is a queer and neurodiverse led multidisciplinary art collective located on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabe territory (Ottawa, ON). With a focus on collective creation, The Lighter Touch’s mandate is to build community and support mutual aid through art. Past works include Christian Slut, a solo, smutty, storytelling show that speaks to the dichotomy of guilt and pleasure during a decade of being a devout Christian, and Zine R.A.C.K, a community collaborative magazine that speaks to queer sex, bodies, and intimacy.
