Event Description
Edgar Breau of Simply Saucer / Darryl Gould / Tammy Levely
ADMISSION: PWYC
Edgar Breau and Darryl Gould return to the Hotel Wolfe Island for a fine folk-infused evening, indeed!
This time, Darryl will have the wonderful Tammy Levely to accompany his levity and severity on vocals, as well as Hamilton legend, and Simply Saucer alumni, Kevin Christoff on low end foundations!
EDGAR BREAU (SIMPLY SAUCER)
If you know Breau’s name, it’s most likely as leader of Hamilton’s cult punk-prog pioneers Simply Saucer, resurrected from the ’70’s and more powerful than ever these days. If you really know Breau, you’ll know his solo work leans to the acoustic folk side, but with lots of grand washes of instruments and dreamy soundscapes. Schooled in folk song traditions, literary fixations, and the fingerstyle guitar playing of John Fahey, his output spans decades, his song writing encompasses haunting acoustic landscapes woven with poetic lyricism, with “short stories with developed characters, marvelous, laid back sound, trippy and rewarding” — Bob Mersereau
“The solo Breau has created a sublimely atmospheric kind of melancholy that will be familiar to acolytes of everyone from Chet Baker to Robert Wyatt.”
— John Sakamoto, THE TORONTO STAR
DARRYL GOULD
Darryl Gould has worked with members of 13 Engines, Teenage Head, The Killjoys, Simply Saucer, and sang with the Rheostatics at The Horseshoe Tavern’s anniversary show, as well as recorded two records with The Dinner Is Ruined Band. He is presently recording a album (or two) with Ian Blurton (Change of Heart).
