DANIEL LAPP QUARTET
The Daniel Lapp Quartet features a stellar line-up of some of the westcoast's finest jazz musicians. With Joey Smith on bass, Don Leppard on drums, Karel Roessingh on piano and Daniel Lapp on trumpet and vocals, this quartet can swing like they were cuttin' up Birdland in 1948. And they can play it real cool to just like the California "50's sound while capturing a vitality and a freshness that makes the music contemporary once again.

Drawing largely from the repertoire of Chet Baker, the Daniel Lapp Quartet plays many of the hits from Chet's recordings while throwing in the occasional original tune. Songs like "My Funny Valentine" and "Let's Get Lost" are regulars in the DLQ songbook along with Burt Bacharach's "Close To You" and Elvis Costello's "Almost Blue".

In 1999, at his second New York appearance performing Chet's music, Daniel discovered that there were five other trumpet playing vocalists in the audience. Word had traveled quickly that this man from Canada's westcoast "can really do the Chet thing!" Currently, Daniel is working on a series of plays with a New York playwright based loosely on the life of Chet Baker.
