Event Description
Riders On The Storm is the best, and last word in, tributes to this monumental force in popular music. In fact fans and critics have said Riders On The Storm is the next best thing to having been there for The Doors’ original incarnation. One reason is their authenticity; Riders On The Storm is led by The Doors founding members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. Another is their passion — the two original members have recruited one of rock’s foremost vocalists, and avowed Doors fan, Ian Astbury, formerly of English rock band the Cult. And then there are the concerts — two hours of back-to-back Doors classics (“L.A. Woman,” “Light My Fire,” “Roadhouse Blues”) played the way only their original creators could play them.
Writing in the Hollywood Reporter in 2003, John Lappen noted: "For one night, time stopped and thousands of loyal fans rejoiced as Riders On The Storm performed a magical concert that, more than any show in recent memory, illustrated the power and influence of timeless, life-changing rock 'n' roll." In the Houston Chronicle, Michael Clark said, “… for one night, it was possible to get caught up in the soul of the Doors.”
Thousands of fans who have seen them since the band formed in 2002 agree: Riders On The Storm retains the same power and majesty the original Doors possessed in the halcyon days of their earliest beginnings.
