Canadian virtuoso pianist and UVic Orion Series in Fine Arts guest artist, Corey Hamm, performs solo music composed for him during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The concert will include works by Taylor Brook, John Psathas (New Zealand), Michael Finnissy (UK), Lucas Oickle (Canada), Claude Lapalme (Canada), Ronn Yedidia (Israel/USA), and Nikolai Kapustin.
Corey Hamm is celebrated for his exceptional artistry and technical brilliance. Born in Vancouver, he honed his talent at esteemed institutions like the Juilliard School and the University of British Columbia. Hamm's performances, spanning classical to contemporary repertoire, have captivated audiences globally. Renowned for championing modern music, he collaborates closely with living composers. As an educator, Hamm inspires the next generation of pianists with his expertise and passion. His profound interpretations and dedication to musical excellence mark him as a standout figure in the world of classical piano. Dr. Hamm is Associate Professor of Piano at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where he was awarded the prestigious Killam Teaching Award.
