Event Description
KNOCKOUT: Battle To The Belt
Drag King Sylvester Stalletto and Drag Queen Henrietta Dubét join forces to co-produce a can’t miss lip sync competition show titled “Knockout: Battle to the Belt.” The up and coming drag legend on the block known as The Chilean Stallion, has been performing for 1.5 years and Sylvester is exhilarated to be bringing his dream show to life. Co-producer and self-proclaimed ‘Queen of the People’ Henrietta Dubét will be bringing her 10 years of drag skills to the table as the two icons collaborate in the creation of a new and unique community connection boosting experience through healthy competition in the artform of drag.
Based on unceded territory of the Lək̓ wəŋən Peoples and the Songhees, W̱ SÁNEĆ, and Esquimalt First Nations, the dynamic duo is thrilled to highlight a diverse and talented lineup. “Knockout” hosts Henrietta and Sylvester are eager to introduce and provide a spotlight to uplift local drag. From established performers to fresh talent hitting the scene, excitement is brewing for the cast of this outstanding event.
A competition can be daunting, which is why this lip sync tournament will be unlike any other. Through the process of bringing their ideas to life, the pair have implemented practices to actively aid the performers and ensure they are supported and encouraged, rather than knocked down or pitted against each other.
The winner will be celebrated by the community, granted the newly-sought after title of “Glitterweight Champion” and will earn the opportunity to perform a ‘victory lap’ across local venues. In addition to booking opportunities, the coveted “Glitterweight Champion Belt” will be presented to the triumphant competitor! Follow the event’s Instagram (@battletothebelt) to root for the last King, Thing, Queen or Monster standing in the ring.
