Event Description
As head of Ministry for the last 25 years, Al Jourgensen revolutionized rock ’n’ roll and influenced generations of industrial and metal musicians with his use of tape loops and samples amidst a wall of brutalizing electric guitars. Proof of this can be heard on Ministry’s latest, Rantology, a compilation of songs from just about every phase of the band’s career, including tracks like “No W Redux” (from 2004’s Houses of the Mole), tweaked with the addition of opera singer Martha Cooper. Jourgenson, always moving forward, has been experimenting with faster beats and orchestral music, and an early example of this direction can be heard on Rantology’s new track, “The Great Satan,” which prepares the way for a new 2006 album. Now on tour, the band that gave the world the seminal album The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste (1989) is back, rallying against complacency with politically charged lyrics, hellfire beats and a sound as heavy and complex as anything in modern rock.
Combining samples, guitars, synths and pounding dance rhythms, Revolting Cocks has been the sleaziest, ugliest and most-fun-to-listen-to industrial band since their 1986 debut. Comprised of Ministry’s front man Al Jourgensen, Chris Connelly and Belgian producer Luc Van Acker, the group’s irreverence is a healthy tonic in the sometimes too-serious world of industrial music. The band is touring in support of its latest, the just-released Cocked and Loaded.
Don’t miss your chance to see “MaterbāTOUR 2006” featuring Ministry and Revolting Cocks with special guests Pitbull Daycare live at the Commodore Ballroom on Tuesday, May 30th and Wednesday, May 31st.
