For the first time in years, David Vest and his band revisit one of their all-time most popular themes: the music of the great Ray Charles, who of course recorded jazz albums as well as rock, soul, and pop hits. Perhaps more than any other artist of his time, Ray succeeded in bringing elements of gospel music into popular music. You'll hear the classic favourites as well as lesser-known tunes that illustrate why Ray Charles was such a great piano player.

David Vest has been playing this music since it first emerged in the 1950s. He even bought an early Wurlitzer electric piano so he could play "What'd I Say" authentically. So this music is deeply engrained in him, and he's got the band for it.
