Tucker's many releases, interviews, reviews and performances in the U.S and Europe, have given him the recognition he deserves.
Call him what you want but by any other way, but don't call him blind. This visionary from Detroit has brought his unique brand of dance music to the awaiting ears of the world recording New Optic Nerve Lp Uncharted on Jeff Mills Axis records, Far Away ep on Soma and collaborations with Anthony Rother, Carl Finlow, Detroit In effect, Anthony Shakir, Cosmic Force, Dj Godfather, Slam, The Exaltics, Strand and extensive remixes for so many in the genre.
PABLO SPLICE - LIVE PA (Woodwork Recordings, Vancouver)
Pablo Splice is Woodwork Recordings boss Peter Grove. After plaing guitar in bands throughout his teens, Peter traded in his "traditional" instruments for synthesizers and drum machines and began developing his solo career in the 1990s as Sunkissed. He quickly engaged the ears and feet of the burgeoning Toronto and Southwestern Ontario underground with his dynamic live performances in the pre-laptop era.
His wraithlike fusion of surreal chords and dark beats caught the attention Richie Hawtin (Plastikman), who duly signed a release for Definitive, the house-centric sub-label of Plus 8. Simultaneously, Grove set up his own label, Woodwork Recordings, to further expand his catalog. Peter has released music as Sunkissed, AFT Lounge Tech, Breakwater, Hues, Streetlights, Sleepdust, Motion Sensor and Pablo Spice/
As Pablo Splice, he stylistically slips between the cracks, crossing the common territory overlapped by electro, EBM, techno, bass music and synthwave electronica. Without pandering to any singular genre or scene, Pablo Splice manages to draw from several while depositing something unique in return.
HRDVSION B2B SHANX B2B EFEMME - LIVE-DJ Performance (Victoria)
HRDVSION is an electronic music producer and composer who has been releasing music internationally for almost two decades as a solo act and as a part of numerous group projects (including Midnight Operator). Live performance and DJ tours have taken him to the United States, all over the UK and Europe, Russia, and through Asia while teaching production masterclasses along the way. During his seven years living in Berlin, Germany he developed a close working relationship with and became an alpha tester for Ableton’s Live software, allowing him a view at the forefront of electronic music production, performance and software development.
SHANX is Victoria DJ/Producer Chris Long. Chris has released on German Imprint Error Broadcast as Monolithium and more recently as BLÖKE and SHANX. As a DJ and promoter, Chris has been instumental in countless festival efforts including Pretty Good Not Bad, and was the head of the wildly successful Sub|Division club nights. With impeccable and encyclopedic tunes, Shax brings a big, undeniable rhythm to dancefloors. His selections sit somwhere in the venn diagram of UK Bass, electro, techno, breaks but he'll guarantee to surprise. Look for an upcoming EP from Shanx on Garneau's Club Designs label.
EFEMME is originally from Sheffield and relocated to Victoria after spending time in Berlin. For five years she was resident at Sheffield’s The Night Kitchen and from Berlin toured extensively across Europe and reknown for banged out demonic electro sets of wall-to-wall breakneck bangaz.
On August 4th, these three powers combine melding the dancefloor responsiveness and deep crates of their DJ personas with the powers of live electronic music hardware.
VISUALS BY DIAGRAF (MONTREAL)
With a filmmaker's perspective on visual thematics and narrative, Diagraf combines minimalist aesthetics and complex evolutive graphics with emotive cinematic content. Keenly tuned in to the sounds of the musicians and producers he works alongside, Diagraf often creates new content inspired by their music, working much like a filmmaker in reverse as he edits his images live while the musical performance unfolds. Diagraf hones his craft with a broad array of technology, increasingly working with generative elements, immersive content and virtual/augmented reality to develop a visual language that crosses sensory boundaries. At home in dome, multiscreen and all manner of performative contexts, Diagraf has provided visuals for international festivals including Mutek, and intertwined his images with the music of Ricardo Villalobos, Max Cooper, Voices From the Lake, Pheek, Nina Kraviz, The Field, Dasha Rush, Function, Acid Pauli and Orphx.
