Event Description
BACK AGAIN! Simon Stribling on trumpet and Doug Rhodes, reeds join Al Pease on the front line to be a ‘creme de la creme of traditional jazz musicians which will raise your spirits and offer a perfect way to celebrate Canada Day! ! Plus with livestream of these shows on youtube you can still be with us no matter where you are in our great country.
CanUS Jazz is New Orleans Jazz with lots of vocals including Jazzy Three-Part Harmony & a Hot Band. And performing at Hermann’s Jazz Club, a world class show space voted the favourite in all of Canada which has a great menu & bar service. While in Europe, I was blown away to hear our classic jazz being played in Paris, France at Le Petite Journal Jazz Club and to know we have a sister club there.
Amazingly, this is the 32nd year of CanUS performing at Hermanns Jazz Club while at the same time touring the U.S. and Canada Traditional Jazz Festivals for 25 of those years. The musicians may vary over time but the music remains true to the earliest days of jazz. Newest to the group is Simon, thanks to another beautiful terrific Canadian woman who has snagged us another jazz musician (Australia this time). The former leader of Fireworks Jazz Band that travelled world-wide, Simon Stribling has settled here in Victoria and wife, Lauri the drummer replacing CanUS founding member, Don Leppard.
Also featuring local heroes of classic jazz, Avram McCagherty, banjo, Joey Smith bass, and Toni Blodgett, tickling the ivories who look forward to seeing you. Reservations online at hermannsjazz.com or by phone: 250-388-9166 Walk-ins welcome.
