Event Description
Performs traditional pop and jazz of the late 1930s and 1940s WW2 era - the songs of love and longing, playful flirting, and swingin’ distraction. This music defined a decade and uplifted hearts through dark wartime days. This Remembrance Day, join us to bob your head, tap your toe, reflect and remember those who lose their lives fighting for peace in a unique format. Songs from The Andrews Sisters, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Vera Lynn and more like We’ll Meet Again, For All We Know, Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Don’t Under the Apple Tree and You’ll Never Know.
Angela, who relocated to Victoria in 2019, previously would perform this annually to critical acclaim in Vancouver area. The last two years at Hermann’s have sold out so gather your groups and make a reservation. She has formed a classic piano trio of Victoria’s finest and most swingin musicians to accompany her for this occasion. Dr Tony Genge is a masterful jazz pianist well-versed in the swingin 40s style. Returning from touring with Cirque de Soleil and a career on the Berlin jazz scene, Scott White lends his big bass sound. Popular bandleader, and one of the most sought after experts in swing in Canada, playful rhymatician Kelby MacNayr will be sure to keep toes a tappin!
An annual sell-out: reserve your table for today. Or, block your calendar and join us for the livestream (by donation).
