Music for 287 strings and 17 pedals!
Duo harpists and sisters, Miya and Kaori Otake join the Bergmann Duo in a programme that will feature some of the most beautiful, inspiring and uplifting music for harps and piano. It will include much-loved pieces by composers such as Bach/Gounod, Saint-Saens and Franck.
Miya Otake is a performer, educator, and an adjudicator based in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Her music career has flown her around the world, performing at famous stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York City to Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. An award-winning graduate of Royal Academy of Music, she is currently on faculty at Vancouver Academy of Music, along with LCMS, Showcase Academy, Chilliwack Academy and Aoyama Harp Studio.
Harpist Kaori Otake has given solo recitals and concerto performances around the world. She has performed the Damase Concertino and Debussy Danses with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Handel Concerto with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ken Hsieh. She has also performed the Mozart Concerto with the Nippon Phil conducted by Maestro Kenichiro Kobayashi. She has performed at the EXPO in her home town of Aichi, Japan, and was invited to do a solo recital in Osaka, Fukui, Chiba, Tokyo, and Sapporo. She has performed at the World Harp Congress in Hong Kong, Vancouver, Geneva and Tacoma. She also performed at the Mariinsky Theatre in St.Petersburg and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
