The Funk Hunters
• "Canadian electro-funk duo The Funk Hunters have been making waves this past year, with no sign of slowing down." - EDM.com
The Funk Hunters, DJs Nick Middleton (founder of Westwood Recordings) and Duncan Smith, combine an ingenious technical display with electronic music influenced by old school funk, soul, and hip-hop. The Funk Hunters consistently play to the world’s biggest dance floors, and will bring the party to “Get Funk’d at Phillips Backyard.
Moontricks
• “While the crystal clear blues guitar plays out a twangy intro, it feels like you’re walking along a gusty backwoods mountain top—this is grade-A Moontricks.” – Thissongissick.com
Kootenay-based Moontricks (Westwood Recordings), Nathan Gurley and Sean Rodman, blaze their own trail, merging musical worlds and capturing audiences along the way. Feeling just as at home on an electronic festival stage one weekend and a folk festival the next, they have birthed an authentic sound infusing grassroots blues, wistful soul, and gritty, bootstomping bass.
Diamond Cafe
• “Groovy, funky, and sensual. It’s fun music to watch, listen to and enjoy.” – Rocktographers
Zone 91.3 “Band of the Month 2019” Diamond Cafe evokes a retro sound akin to Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson. Led by multi-instrumentalist Tristan Thompson, critics cite their style as a "blend of synth-pop and R&B".
LIINKS
• “Electronic pop music infused with soulful rhythm and blues that holds a distinctly raw quality.” – EDM Identity
LIINKS is the epic electronic duo of soul-pop singer Georgia Murray and DJ Tony Day. Witness their live music comeback on September 25 at Phillips Backyard!
