There are some pieces of music that transcend era and genre, their undeniable beauty giving them a universal appeal. For their newest program, Timeless Treasures, Laudate has selected several such gems to share with you in performances at two intimate venues.
The program is centered around Laudate Singers' brand new commission from composer-in-residence Emile Deedes-Vincke, Stars. This textural and evocative work contrasts the ever-changing earthly sky with the immutability of the heavens.
The program interweaves new choral favourites such as Soila Sariola's Pakkanen (Frost) and Eriks Esenvalds' Only in Sleep with pieces that have inspired choirs for generations like Lotti's Crucifixus and Allegri's Miserere.
Brahms, Piazzolla, Ravel, Monteverdi and even the Beatles have found their place in this varied treasure trove!
