VIBRATE at Copper Owl
We're very excited to have our second guests, JoyLi, joining the Vibrate crew at Copper Owl for a night of smooth rollers, high flying house and whatever the heck else we feel like playing. VIBRATE aims to create a comfortable and safe space to enjoy electronic music, a place to share new music and explore new sounds, and a chance for up and coming DJs to rinse their tunes. All are welcome.

At the age of 14 Alex Joy traded in his violin for a set of turntables. By age 16 he was playing the biggest stadium parties in his hometown of Victoria B.C., booked on the bill with the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Kevin Saunderson, and Yuan Atkins. After leaving his hometown he played internationally at Black Rock City U.S. (Robot Heart), Tokyo, Kyoto, Bali , Jakarta , Sydney ,Melbourne, Seoul ,Florianopolis Brazil , Hong Kong , Sao Paulo, and Berlin. The Heist, an experimental art film produced during his time at the Art Institute won several awards for music and cinematography. Subsequently he has been released on Renee Foster’s RF music label on the Entrowerk compilations part one and two with the tracks Love Addict and Bomp and Wakyo records with the single Pie. Alex was a regular at the Sound Wave Music Festival, held annually at Mussel Beach in B.C. Canada, where he played on the bill with Doc Martin, Dirt Crew, Thug Fucker and Matt Jonson to name but a few. His deep driving house sets have soul and a psychedelic edge. From festivals to after hours clubs, Alex is consistently being asked to play alongside some of the best in the game from Kenny Glasgow to Spirit Catcher, Rampue and Nick Warren to the Gorillas, with many in between. Currently based between Bali and Vancouver Island he is an avid explorer and defender of the Rainforests. He spends time deep in the rain forests of Southeast Asia capturing sound clips of the creatures and tiny gnomes that reside there. They give him the magic elements that infuse his music with exotic textures and led to the creation of the Rainforest Pavilion which starting at Wonderfruit Festival Thailand is growing into a movement harness the power of electronic music and festival culture to fund the protection of rainforests worldwide. With 18 years behind the decks, an everlasting adoration of music and a dynamic connection with the crowd that is in front of him, he continues to play with love, joy and an excitement that only expands through time.

Is a creature of higher order, this intergalactic super babe will stun you with her good looks as she woos you with her talent and mastery of frequency. She could be Singing , DJing or just making you look the best you have ever looked, one thing is for certain you will be impressed and walk away feeling better then you did. Her deep melodic house sets set dancefloors ablaze as her gaze ignites the room. As a classically trained musician her sound is dynamic and eclectic with the sensitivity of a female touch all while driving the dance floor with consistent musical wizardry.

Big Body is a long time Victoria DJ spinning house, techno, electro, 140, 160, you name it. Evolving from the feistier days of electro bangers, Big Body's sound has matured into a more European take on techno and house. Constantly digging through new music, Ian's most excited to use VIBRATE as a venue to share his newest tunes and turn them up loud.
