Featuring new work by Matthis Grunsky, Imperfect Parallels explores the fallible nature of the human hand in relation to processes of computation. Using purpose written computer code as a structuring tool, Matthis explores avenues of pattern making which exploit the imperfections of the physical gesture. Through translation between digital and material, the gesture is distanced from its origins, obscuring the distinction between programmed and improvised.
Matthis Grunsky is an artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia, now based in Vancouver, BC.
He is currently the artist in residence at the Bonnie McComb Kreye Studio Residency in Victoria, BC.
The Ministry of Casual Living Studio Gallery is supported by the CRD Arts Development Service through a Project Grant
