Pathologia is a series of work focusing on the unseen and microscopic parts of the human body. By way of meticulous embroidery, quilting and video projection I am attempting to illuminate the universe that exists underneath our skin. Each piece has an aesthetic attractiveness that under closer examination is subverted by the realization that the magnifications depict cancer, specifically Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It is this tension between beauty and decay, strength and collapse and the known and unknown within the human anatomy that drives my art practice.
