Event Description
In 2012 I left Ontario and arrived in the Cowichan Valley with a seed of hope that I might heal a life's worth of futile patterns that had kept me in addictive behaviours, various abusive relationships and physically struggling to remain alive at 53 years old. Through body, mind, spirit therapies at Time To Heal, Treatment & Workshop Facility I've learned to allow myself to enjoy “feelings” and build on the self denied potential of my life. I am a self taught, intuitive and “always eager to reach new heights” artist. I have always been creatively inspired, although it has only been since 2013 that I became ignited through painting. Treatments and therapy evolved into a phenomenally creative process thereby allowing me to safely express the deep emotions and pain of my life through constant variations of theme and painting styles. Being an artist, I prefer to remain unrestrained, and so use the term Emotional Expressionism to describe the body of my work.
In recreating my life through art, I am guided and supported by Andrew Louisy, of Time To Heal, to direct all my senses towards one focus to heighten and stimulate my imagination. As I begin to paint, an energetic intention is channelled into each project which includes a personal healing description about the painting and offers a unique, soulful insight to the reflection of my heart. To sum up, Art is my therapy. Being an artist bridges a divine mystical connection with all life, death and rebirth. When I paint, my emotions are visually placed on canvas or paper through colour combinations, layout and energetic movement. My intention is to heal the split of spirit from matter, heaven from earth, sacred from profane, human from divine, light from dark. I recognize that my dark is nothing more than denied, primal feminine. I feel complete when my creative cycle resonates with the way I see and feel the world. It is my sincere desire that my art will have a memorable effect and inspire others in their own understanding and growth.
Presently I'm experimenting with mixing opposing compounds into watercolours, various types of acrylics, oils and pastels.
