Event Description
Coastline CD Release Concert - The High Drive
Few countries love the fiddle as much as Canada, and few young Canadian fiddlers today can show off the breadth and range of fiddling like the youth fiddle ensemble, Coastline.
A recent 2015 two-time nominee for Young Performers of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year from the Canadian Folk Music Awards underscores the power of Coastline’s musicianship and range of their vision and passion.
For this special hometown CD Release concert, Coastline will be joined during the evening by old-timey troubadour and wandering musician Oliver Swain, the soaring harmonies, catchy songs and original folk-roots music of Genevieve and the Wild Sundays, five-time North American Fiddle Champion Ivonne Hernandez, bluegrass and singer-songwriter phenom Tad Ruszel, and original Coastline band mate Elijah Marret-Hitch who is home just for this show from studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Over the course of Coastline’s relatively short history of 3-1/2 years they have had the pleasure of working and collaborating with some of the world's top musicians such as Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas, Katie McNally, The Fretless, Mairi Rankin, Wendy MacIssac, De Temps Antan, Colleen Eccleston, Fintan O’Brien, The Gettin’ Higher Choir, Sarah Tradewell and Nellie Quinn to name just a few.
Coastline represented Canada and toured Scotland during the summer of 2015 as part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival to rave reviews and are now looking forward to a spring tour of Alberta with the renowned Calgary Fiddlers.
This CD release concert is the perfect family event to help kick off the winter season. Come and harness the irresistible energy of this talented troupe of young musicians and their special guests. An epic event not to be missed, all while having fun and supporting live music and our talented youth in Victoria!
“Hale & Hearty are proud to be a part of the musical community around Coastline. A Coastline show is a top-notch cultural experience: always unique, inspiring and fun.”
~ Eli Bender (Hale & Hearty)
