Event Description
CFUV 101.9 FM's Northern Circle is very excited to be moving things off the airwaves and into a venue for another night of deep beats and dancing. We are excited to present DJ sets by the Subversive DJs Nancy Dru & Myte (Vancouver) with local support from Compass Rose and Arktic, with Emp Interactions setting the tone visually for the night.
This time we'll be exploring the sounds of techno, and bass at the Sunset Room, from 9:30 pm - 4:30 am. Expect a carefully crafted night long journey through deep, rolling beats.

Situated pleasantly on the more unconventional end of music and sound, Vancouverite Jen P aka Nancy Dru has a kind of important message embedded throughout her style. Known internationally during the IDM days as The Square Root of Evil, Jen now delivers dense, driven techno, as solid as urban pavement. Nancy Dru is where Jen's personal and deep comprehension of sound marches through each corner and transition of her set. Rendering her work more potent is its vocal aridness. Though this style is alive with language, it is an idiosyncratic, non-verbal kind, accessible to all who are at least level two versed in techno.
Jen has gained a laudable reputation as not only an artist with a severe approach to music, but also as a techno advocate with an esoteric, tenacious language, argot required for propelling the global dance community forward into its unknown, tremendous future.

Myte is an integral part of Vancouvers celebrated Subversive crew, the collective responsible for some of Vancouver's most exciting techno events. With over a decade behind the decks, her ear for deep, engaging grooves and creative, sharp mixes have brought her to the forefront of Vancouver's underground dance music scene.
Over the past few years she has played alongside such notable artists as Black Madonna, Daniel Bell, DVS1, Efdemin, Joey Anderson, Kevin Saunderson, Marcel Fengler, Peter Van Hoesen, Prosumer and Steffi. At these events Myte has gained notoriety for her natural ability to keep dancers in the zone. She consistently strives to push forward her craft, a trait displayed through her versatile, creative sets.

Over the past three years, EMP Interactions has had the opportunity to develop their artistic and technological capacity into a unique fusion of traditional stage construction and digitally generated visual material. Their work has been featured at Thinklandia/Rifflandia, Tectoria/Viatech, Sub|Division, Urban Therapy, BC Creates, and Bass Coast Festival, as well as other venues in Vancouver and on Salt Spring island. Specializing in creative and digital renovations (both permanent and temporary), projection mapping, programming, artistic consultation, motion graphic design, and event planning, EMP looks to engage and inspire participants and viewers with their work.
