Patrick Boyle and Curtis Andrews present an evening of traditional South Indian (Carnatic) music and original compositions.
Associate Professor of UVic Jazz Studies, Dr. Patrick Boyle embodies the jazz spirit by synthesizing a range of influences into a compelling original voice. He has been aptly referred to as a “trumpet personality” and “one of Canada’s top trumpet players and jazz musicians in general” by CBC Radio. Curtis Andrews is a Canadian-based percussionist/composer/teacher who creates music that is informed by his many years of experience with West African, South Indian and jazz traditions yet transcends most categories. He is currently a PhD student in Ethnomusicology at the University of British Columbia.
