Event Description
CFUV 101.9 FM's Northern Circle is very excited to be moving things off the airwaves and into a venue for a night of deep beats and dancing. We are excited to present DJ and live sets by Sergio Levels, Matsya, En Noir and Arktic, with Emp Interactions setting the tone visually for the night.
This time we'll be exploring the sounds of techno, bass and warehouse at the Sunset Room, from 9:30 pm - 4:30 am. Expect a carefully crafted night long journey through deep, rolling beats.
As its CFUV's Annual Fundrive, we're going to run this one as a fundraiser, to help keep alternative radio on-air. Proceeds from the event will go to the station, if you would like more info on CFUV's Fundrive head to: http://cfuv.uvic.ca/cms/?p=19921

This event IS licensed until 2:00 am (with proceeds going to CFUV). There will be a selection of alcoholic, and non-alcoholic, beverages and snacks available.

Sergio Levels is a Canadian artist channeling energy into several creative endeavours. He contributes to Canadas electronic music community by producing, DJing, promoting and teaching electronic music production.
Sergio got his start in dance music in Calgary, Alberta. Under the moniker Piranha Piranha he collaborated with long time friend and business partner Dan Solo, producing music and initiating the forward-thinking brand therinseout. They contributed to the growing foundation of the west coast underground scene by championing weekly parties as well as other one-offs and experimental events. Modern Math, which started as a weekly night between 2009-2011, was a catalyst to a particularly lively period in Calgary's musical upbringing, and has since morphed into a series of events, record releases and short run prints, curated by Dan and Sandro in collaboration.Another long-running event was Northern Lights, which happened every Wednesday for 4 1/2 years at Calgarys premier dance spot, The HiFi Club. The night was responsible for showcasing a deeper, more progressive side of dance music, and introducing taste-making local and international artists to a developing city.
Sergio continues to push his sound and production ability into new territory, collaborating with a growing league of producers representing the international landscape. His DJ sets quite often range in flavour but mostly waver in the house and techno realm with a lean towards tracked-out, low end sounds. His solo productions are heavily inspired by dub techno legends and loop based producers, and range from dance floor centric tracks to deep ambient textures. His reputation as a selector and live performer have allowed him to perform alongside some of the cultures most influential characters, as well as won him prime time bookings at festivals such as Bass Coast and Shambhala.
Sergio has stepped into new realms of creativity with a move to Toronto in early 2015. He has since participated in Red Bull Music Academys noted Bass Camp, and continues to evolve and grow as an artist throughout various creative explorations.

Matsya has been involved from the ground up with festivals and events for a decade now. He has been playing Dj sets at yearly meetings such as Shambhala Music Festival, Diversity Festival, Luminosity Gathering, Motion Notion, The Field etc.. He is now an event curator and promoter with noticeable recent events such as Living Spheres, Inflorescence, Mythodical and Silhouette, some of "A Sound Tasting Room's" production. Matsya lives on Salt Spring Island, Djs, facilitates contact improvisation and grows food.
Matsya's love of getting his hands in the earth seems to go in hand with his innate skill at digging up musical gems. His timely selections, diversity in tempos, variance in styles and shades from complete darkness to blindingly light is what makes Matsya's sets unique and tastefully unpredictable. From atmospheric ambience to current beat and sound design, Matsya's refined palette does not go unnoticed.

Over the past three years, EMP Interactions has had the opportunity to develop their artistic and technological capacity into a unique fusion of traditional stage construction and digitally generated visual material. Their work has been featured at Thinklandia/Rifflandia, Tectoria/Viatech, Sub|Division, Urban Therapy, BC Creates, and Bass Coast Festival, as well as other venues in Vancouver and on Salt Spring island. Specializing in creative and digital renovations (both permanent and temporary), projection mapping, programming, artistic consultation, motion graphic design, and event planning, EMP looks to engage and inspire participants and viewers with their work.
