You are warmly invited to join the Galiano Ensemble of Victoria for their first concert of 2016 as they celebrate Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on his 260th birthday. The Ensemble will perform an assortment of pieces from one of the greatest and most prolific classical composers of all time.
The Divertimento K.137 is the second of three divertimenti also known as the
"Salzburg Symphonies" written when Mozart was just 16 years old.
The Serenata Nottourna K. 286 is an entertaining piece with an unusual
combination of solo players including two violins, viola and bass, as well as a percussionist playing timpani.
Two additional compositions were later 'transformed’ through new arrangements. The Serenade in C minor K. 406 was originally written for winds, than later arranged by Mozart himself for a string quintet, which the Ensemble will perform.
The Fantasy K. 608 was written shortly before Mozart’s death in 1791. Originally written for a 'mechanical clock' (a type of an 'organ synthesizer') it was later arranged for a conventional pipe organ, and then for piano four hands. The Ensemble will perform a string orchestra version arranged in 1799.
Conductor Yariv Aloni and the orchestra are sure to provide an entertaining evening of chamber music so be certain to put this in your calendar and tell your friends!
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
