Event Description
Thee Cowichan Aboriginal Festival of Film & Art is a celebration of Aboriginal filmmakers, artists and performance artists. The Festival is a welcoming and inclusive showcase of the amazing community of skilled Aboriginal professionals who use film and art to tell their own stories in their own words. Set in the picturesque Cowichan Valley on southern Vancouver Island, the Festival is a wonderful medley of tradition, culture, art and entertainment.
Aboriginal filmmakers and collaborators who create the films and the people who attend and show their support have the capacity to build bridges between cultures and dissolve ignorance and misunderstanding. The Cowichan Aboriginal Festival of Film & Art showcases emerging and established Aboriginal filmmakers. The Festival also, through the film making workshops for youth, Youth FX, encourages and supports Aboriginal youth to find their voices and to have the confidence to share that voice.
The Cowichan Aboriginal Festival of Film & Art is supported by the Cowichan Tribes, the City of Duncan and the surrounding community.
