Event Description
Susan Pesklevits (Jacks) began her professional career at the age of 15 when she appeared as a regular performer on the national CBC television show, Music Hop. At 18, she would invite Terry Jacks to accompany her on rhythm guitar at a singing engagement in Hope, B.C. Craig McCaw and Satwant Singh soon joined the duo and the Poppy Family was formed.
Susan has performed numerous hits, both in Canada and internationally, including “Which Way You Goin’ Billy?”, “That’s Where I Went Wrong”, “Good Friends”, “I Thought Of You Again”, “Anna Marie”, “All The Tea In China”, “Evergreen” and more.
After living in Nashville for many years, Susan returned to Vancouver in 2004. She was soon diagnosed with kidney failure and performed sparingly as her strength deteriorated. In 2010, Susan received a kidney transplant, the kidney donated by her brother Billy whose name was used for her first international hit with the Poppy Family, “Which Way You Goin’ Billy?”. She has since returned to live performing and recording. Susan’s rare 1970s album “Dream” is scheduled for re-release on CD in September.
Enjoy this rare performance with Susan and her top-notch band which includes David Sinclair on lead guitar, Zak Sinclair on rhythm guitar, Shawn Soucy on drums, Brian Newcombe on bass, Bill Sample on keyboards and Mary Saxton on background vocals.
