Slowdive continue a rapturously received comeback year with the announcement of a comprehensive US tour today, 14th July. The Reading UK five piece, one of the most admired and acclaimed bands of the 90’s, announced their reformation at the start of 2014 and followed this with a return to the live scene in London that sold out in under three minutes. The band then played prestigious high profile sets at Barcelona’s Primavera, Porto’s Primavera Optimus and Denmark’s Roskilde alongside further festival dates in France, Germany and Holland.
Throughout the summer Slowdive returns to the USA for the first time in over twenty years with sets at Chicago’s Pitchfork festival and Los Angeles FYF in addition to visits to the UK’s Latitude Festival, Iceland’s ATP, Japan’s Fuji Festival, France’s La Route Du Rock and Ireland’s Electric Picnic.
In the twenty years since their original disbandment, the legend of Slowdive has grown, with the band’s sophomore album, ‘Souvlaki’ being heralded by many critics including Paste Magazine as the ultimate example of the ‘shoegaze’ genre.
The tour also marks a return for the band to Toronto, where they played their last ever show in their first incarnation in 1994.
