Event Description
It's time once more for my monthly Ocean Island Friday. I always look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones, so I hope you'll come out, share a pitcher and enjoy some of Victoria's best emerging artists.
This month, I am pretty freaking excited to have Anna Frances joining us. I heard Anna play at a charity event a few months ago and I just loved her strong, soulful voice (which reminded me of Stevie Nicks), singing gorgeous original and cover tunes over both guitar and keyboard. So good.
Also ready to rock your world is the talented young Corey Francis with his bluesy, raw roots sound and sweet grunge-tinted vocal styles. We're glad to have him back!
No cover - admission by donation. Seating is limited so you might want to come early to get a good one. As usual, Ocean Island has cheap and very tasty food and bevvies available for your pleasure.
Come and enjoy the warm, intimate atmosphere of an evening of music with friends.

Hatchling is a classical and jazz trained musician who took up the piano at age six and has been writing songs ever since. Her style is a sweet and smoky blend of jazz, blues, soul, folk, trip-hop and dance.
Fans have compared her voice to the likes of Norah Jones, and Tracey Thorn of Everything But The Girl. Her poetic lyrics range from gorgeous and complex metaphor to heartbreaking simplicity.
Hatchling wears no armour over her heart or her eyes when she gives her raw and revealing performances. Her deepest pleasure is to connect to the hidden emotions of her audience. Come, listen, and be moved.

If someone asks you what music in Canada sounds like send them to see Anna Frances. A native of the whole country, Anna has called Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and now British Columbia home. True to her wandering roots Anna’s music explores more than one shore, stretching from pulsing ballads to witty folk.
Whether strumming catchy melodies on her guitar or dragging her heart out on the piano, Anna puts it all out there for you to see. Her aptly named debut EP, Heart, Meet Sleeve, speaks to the broken hearts and enduring love that inspire her writing.
