Event Description

. TONIGHT! Friday, January 24th IMU presents STRIDE ELEMENTARY, JOYCE ISLAND, FATHOMS & The WALK-INS @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Show 10pm / Purchase advance tickets online @ http://www.imuproductions.com/tix

STRIDE ELEMENTARY mines the seams of rock to expose the fragile beauty and explosive power at the core, fusing analog synth wonder and gentle reflective passages with feedback-driven bliss and thunderous drum patterns. With a pedigree of membership in other notable acts including Windows '78, Hinterland and Solarists, their bewitching musical brew blends diverse textures including dream pop, psychedelic rock, dub, thrash, dance and post anything/everything. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Stride-Elementary/11604749931

JOYCE ISLAND - Wowing audiences with her raw, emotionally charged vocals and charismatic live shows since 2007, Lisa Joyce has had the pleasure of singing with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and headlining Vancouver's 2012 Fringe Festival. Her songs are reminiscent of old traditionals with a modern spin, channeling the classic instrumental energies of artists like Neil Young, Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac with rich guitar tones and bluesy psychedelia. http://www.joyceisland.ca

The WALK-INS - Featuring members of The Unknown Soldiers, Top Drawers & Captain Dust, The Walk-ins have conspired together to create a new musical concoction that seems strangely familiar yet somehow alien. Some say it's blues, some say it's rock or even urban folk... perhaps it's all three mixed together in a musical blender and seasoned with a dash of grit and grind and a hint of grunge. So sit back and let the Walk-Ins fill your body and soul with the eternal sounds of their musical madness. http://www.reverbnation.com/thewalkins

FATHOMS - Taking '80s synthpop as a starting point and amping up the aggressive tendencies, Fathoms create dark, dreamy, danceable rock music with a heavy dose of electric guitars. "The songs are constructed like a sturdy skyscraper, layers of sound stacked neatly atop one another, beats heavy and dirty, vocals rich and flawless. Fathoms is catchy as hell." - V-Rag Magazine http://facebook.com/fathomsmusic
