Event Description
"We're on a mission to highlight the fact blues is not just for rock musicians who've monopolized the style; jazz music is the direct descendant from the blues, while rock and roll blues, the stepchild came later." This same line up minus Andrew Janusson performed original material in 2012 Jazzfest in Victoria under the name Navica. Jimmy Smith was an important influence on a number of musicians as he was one of the pioneers who introduced the B3 organ to a wider audience. Marty Steele had the good fortune to actually meet and sit in with Jimmy Smith when he was much younger. Aside from being a major influence on Marty Steele, he also has some stories to tell about him too! Come out if you are curious about a part of jazz and blues history and would like to hear it played live..
