Internationally acclaimed singer and humanitarian Nana Mouskouri has sold over 200 million records and is one of the best-selling and most-loved recording artists worldwide. Her career spans over half a century. She released her first album in 1958 and her recording of “The White Rose of Athens” became an enormous international hit translated into several different languages and became her signature tune.
In 1962, she met record producer Quincy Jones who flew her to New York to record an album of jazz standards and she has teamed Harry Belafonte, collaborating on a live duo album. She is an ardent child-rights activist supporting significant causes in this field. Mouskouri was elected a member of the European Parliament in the 90s and has served as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1993. This year she was awarded an honourary degree by McGill University in Montreal and this year kicks of her “Happy Birthday Tour” of which her Victoria performance is a part.
