To most people sofas abandoned on the boulevards and streets of Victoria are an eyesore, but to Artist Diana Durrand these jettisoned pieces of family history have been the inspiration for her latest body of work. Over a two year period Diana has created her 40 piece Sofa Sitters of Victoria series, recruiting dozens of dogs, most as they were out for walks with their owners. The dogs were photographed sitting on the sofas, the images were then enlarged in black and white and hand coloured in gorgeous detail with chalk pastels. The effect is striking, resulting in images that are both comforting and jarring. The dogs add a sense of belonging to the strange, fragile settings. Opening night Sept.13 at the Arts Centre at Cedar Hill promises be a unique and very special event, with the participating dogs and their owners in attendance.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
