Event Description
“. . . a veteran soul stylist backed up by a crack band well schooled in the nuances of soul dynamics.” – The Independent
Soul vocalist Lee Fields got his start in the late ‘60s and hit his stride the following decade with a handful of electrifying funk singles recorded for small labels. Justly compared to James Brown, the groove-heavy Fields disappeared for awhile before re-emerging in the ‘90s as a soul-blues belter working the Southern circuit. Fields has reached an ever-wider audience in the last few years with great CDs such as "My World," "Treacherous," and last year’s "Faithful Man." But it’s mostly thanks to his energized live performances – imagine a combination of so-called deep funk and vintage ballads reminiscent of Otis Redding and Percy Sledge – that Fields is finally getting the acclaim he’s always deserved. Whether crooning an emotion-drenched love song or working up a sanctified sweat deep in the grooves of old-school funk, Fields is sensational. Toby Pazner keyboards, Evan Pazner drums, Benjamin Trokan bass, Vincent D’annunzio guitar, Michael Buckley saxophone and Jason Colby trumpet
