The New Groovement is a high-energy funk band with all the elements to get you dancing! Formerly known as Victoria Dream Team, this 11-member band is taking Victoria by storm. The band is truly local, and is stacked with talented musicians from Camosun College, UVic Music School, Vancouver Island University and others (most of whom were born or raised on Vancouver Island). Known for their massive shows and great parties, they've headlined Fernfest and played numerous venues around Victoria.
The New Groovement employs their trademark formula of infectious grooves, punchy horns, sweet vocals, clever rhymes and tight percussion to get party people moving. The music has been described as James Brown meets Jamiroquai with a dash of soul and a generous helping of hip hop.
The band consists of leader Groovin' Reuven Sussman (drums), Tejas Collison (bass), Ben Scotney (guitar), Geoff Mason (percussion), Kim Maddin (congas), Theresa Pasaluko (lead vocals), Danimal House (emcee), David Chase (trumpet), Jason Dolynny (Trombone), Jonnie Bridgman (sax), and Brad Justason (sax).

River’s adventurous blend of driving rock, dream pop and roots influences strives for the metaphysical. Hailing from the open skies and minds of Victoria, British Columbia, the Canadian trio has gone from strength to strength with its gigs and EP releases as it builds a global audience. Its just-released first full-length album, Light Up to Burn Out, is a testament to its musical vitality. The self-produced epic spans 18 songs, cataloging the emotive dissonance between man's best efforts to prevail against conquest.
River is comprised of multi-instrumentalists Sam Weber, Marshall Wildman, and Evan Hillier, all of whom share bass, drums, guitar, piano, and synth duties. Together, they command the intellectual post punk-edness of bands like Joy Division, the raw simplicity of early John Hiatt and Bruce Springsteen, while maintaining the gentle emotive grip of acts like Bon Iver.
