Come and join clarinettist Krista Martynes, and composers Cassandra Miller and Wolf Edwards as they descend upon Open Space in a short residency from June 28th to June 30th.
The clarinet (affectionately called the licorice stick in some circles) will come alive as its range and colours are expanded through the use of electronics and computer processing. This exciting program featuring three premieres by three composers with British Columbia connections: Cassandra Miller, Wolf Edwards and Adam Basanta.
On Friday June 29 at 7:00 p.m. Cassandra Miller and Wolf Edwards will discuss some of their previous works and talk about the challenges and rewards of writing for the clarinet with electronics.
Saturday June 30, 7:00 p.m., Krista Martynes will give us insights to the evening’s program from a performers point of view before the main event at 8:00 p.m.
Come rub shoulders with Krista Martynes, Cassandra Miller, and Wolf Edwards and learn a thing or two about everyone’s favourite licorice stick.
