Event Description
Saturday, June 2, 2012 Cenote Restaurant & Lounge proudly presents award-winning performer Rik Leaf live in concert.
July 2011 Rik won the Spirit of Canada: Poetry, Spoken Word and Singer/Songwriter Contest. The televised three part series came with recording time at Oakstone Studios, which led to Rik’s brand new recording, Rhythms & Rhymes – Between the Lines, released April 20th, featuring Victoria’s poet laureate, Janet Rogers.
Inspired by Michael Franti’s CD, Stay Human, the album features a collection of new songs and the two socially active poets, channelling the oratory energy of JFK and Martin Luther King Jr.
“The project is full of groove-heavy ideas and instruments designed to move your mind and behind at the same time!” Leaf laughs. http://rikleaf.bandcamp.com/releases
