Event Description
Victorians will be in for a real treat on March 10th when the highly acclaimed Celtic duo, Qristina and Quinn Bachand, along with their stellar band and special guests take the stage at Fairfield United Church. If you enjoy Celtic music, if you love Irish traditions, or if you simply enjoy world class performances you won't want to miss this concert!
Qristina and Quinn Bachand are quickly becoming two of the most important young musicians in the Celtic music world! With three Canadian Folk Music Award Nominations, three Irish Music Award Nominations and two consecutive Irish Music Award wins for Top Traditional Group in 2010 and Top Duo in 2011 this young brother and sister are one of the most exciting acts to come along in the world of Celtic music!
You'll be able to get a head start on St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with this special evening of music, song and dance from Ireland. Joining Qristina and Quinn will be a award winning band that includes Los Angeles based Zac Leger, who is an All-Ireland piping champion and North American champion on Irish flute.
Twenty-one year old Qristina Bachand is an expressive fiddler, with a unique style that is bold and edgy. The recent addition of vocals to their repertoire are garnering the duo rave reviews. Sixteen year old, Quinn Bachand, is a gifted multi-instrumentalist and in demand sideman who already has a reputation as one of the best Celtic guitar accompanists in the world (Ashley MacIsaac). Quinn adds a contemporary edge to traditional Celtic music; his creative harmonies, hard-driving strumming, inventive chord voicing and powerful rhythmic effects make even the most well-worn tunes seem new and exciting.
Qristina and Quinn have released two critically acclaimed studio albums, “Relative Minors”, which was nominated for a 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award and “Family” nominated for two 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards and chosen by National Public Radio’s Celtic Connections as the 2011 Album of the Year.
