Event Description

SUNSET LABS PRESENTS :: GRIME MACHINE v22
a whole new year through dubs, crunk, glitch & bass!!

Ready for more from THE GRIME MACHINE?! In 2012 we carry forward to grimy tradition of this ever-awesome monthly series as we take you on an unpredictable and dark timewarp through bass music - dubstep, glitchhop, dnb, ragga, tech-hop, garage, crunk and all forms of the whomp & wobble! This super sexy low frequency dance infusion will have you a grimey sweaty puddle on the floor when it's through with you. Once you've entered the Grime Machine, there's no telling where we'll end up!!
STARRING! (in order of appearance):

ECLECTRIX :: Outersphere, Cloudsounds, CFUV | Victoria
http://soundcloud.com/eclectrix

Eclectrix is a selector with a diverse library of deep, dubbed-out bass-music. As an all analog performer, you won't see a computer screen on stage with him - only straight-up wax. Combining the low-end of the frequency spectrum and his roots in Classical music, Eclectrix brings a brand of music to the dance floor that focuses on breathing bass-lines, pumping rhythms and eclectic melodies. 2011 saw his entry into the Victoria dance-music scene and his debut release, via Outersphere Recordings, was featured on CBC Radio 3. As a selector who is always pushing forward, make sure you catch his beats at his residency with the Cloudsounds electronic music series or, tune in to the Outersphere's weekly bass-music broadcast on CFUV 101.9FM in Victoria.

FLORIAN :: Sunset Labs, Audio Planet | Victoria
www.sunsetlabs.ca/florian

[tech-funk, crunkstep, glitch-hop]
It was a dance party in an industrial zone of Vancouver that was Florian's introduction to electronica, and he immediately knew he wanted to get involved with the scene. Quickly thereafter he was getting involved in all sorts of events, from indoor shows to multi-day outdoor festivals including Shambhala, In:Vision, Diversity, and Entheos. When Florian was 16, he began investigating the alchemy of beats, basslines and melody -- seeking the transformative quality they hold on a dancefloor with the potential to unify each person into the interactive whole. He's studied the domains of dub, breaks, glitch, trance, and house in all it's forms with great dilligence, and now uses these modules to deliver a potent blend of sonic bliss that draws each individual into the dancefloor experience. Climbing the ranks from partier, to waste management, to harm reduction, to event planning, Florian is now a budding producer, promoter, and manager of Sunset Room - Victoria's only all hours dance venue. Stay tuned for lots more from this committed & growing addition to the BC scene!

BYRON LIGHTWEAVER :: San Francisco, CA
http://soundcloud.com/iamlightweaver

One of the founding members of Entheos, Byron Lightweaver returns from California with a pocketful of bass, a bagful of crunchy rhythms, and a full charge of whomp to get the body moving and the juices flowing! After being a DJ for many years, he is in full-on production mode and expects to bring some new creations to lay on the dancefloor. Bring on the wobble!

DUBRIS :: Breakbeat Island, 420 Kru | Victoria
[drum n bass, freerange beats]
Dubris, you've seen the name on flyers all over town, but you're probably still pronouncing it all wrong. It doesn't sound like vicious, though that's certainly how you could describe his preferred style of Dnb, Dubstep, and anything else that's liable to knock your socks off. Debris, like the glass that rained down on him in Eagle's Hall when the bass from one of his own productions shattered a light bulb overhead - only spelled with a 'U' because you're the one who's gonna get it next.
