With his dreadlocked surfer persona and his game-changing blend of blues, electronica, hip hop, rock and soul, APRA-winner Ash Grunwald is already credited with bringing roots and blues to a whole new generation of Australians.
Now he’s returning to Canada to enjoy some killer snowboarding and promote his new album Hot Mama Vibes, certain to be the most primal concoction of elemental junkyard soul to pass through speakers this year
Grunwald’s tour of Canada comes on the heels of a national tour of Australia opening for Jack Johnson -- along with Canadians deTegan and Sarah. The past three years have seen him debut at the Montreux Jazz Festival and earn the prestigious 2010 Australasian Performing Rights Association Award for Blues and Roots Song of the Year.
Grunwald regularly plays major Australian festivals like East Coast Blues & Roots Festival, Falls Festival, Soundwave, Southbound and Sunset Soundsand and has opened for legends like Bo Diddley and James Brown.
