Event Description

SWEET THING - Toronto-based EMI recording artist Sweet Thing play infectious pop tunes charged with dueling guitars, foot stomping grooves, soulful harmonies and a healthy dose of hand claps. Opening for for Metric in Victoria on Nov 14th, their single "Change Of Season" is a hot-AC top 15 hit across Canada and was featured in the movie Morning Glory and throughout the hit Emma Stone movie Easy A. Combining influences ranging from classic rock (The Beatles, CCR) and indie power pop (Sloan, Ted Leo) to Motown soul (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson), their self-titled debut was recorded in LA with producer Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliot Smith). "As soon as I heard Sweet Thing I thought, this is the sound and band that we've all been waiting for!" - George Stroumboulopoulos

DANNY ECHO reverberates with all that is melodic, all that is catchy and all that is rock and roll. Since their formation, the Vancouver music scene has embraced their incredible vibe, inspired by greats like the Rolling Stones, The Who, The Beatles and U2. They've taken their songwriting, recordings and live shows to the next level, with smoke machines, video projections, smoking guitars and fire extinguishers (?!!) enhancing the visual appeal of Danny Echo gigs. Working with producer Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland) and mixer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Franz Ferdinand), their hook-filled tunes have been implanted in numerous media outlets including Cold Squad, MTV, MuchMusic, CBC and The Peak Performance Project, with even bigger things are just around the corner! http//www.dannyecho.com

JEFF LAING has had the honour of holding many musical titles, most notably that of classical vocal performer and pianist. In stepping away from his past, turning the corner and looking forward, he's now embarking on combining his vast musical experiences and crafting his songwriting to capture the true essence of pop bliss. Helping him on the way are a company of musicians, artists and friends with a wealth of musical talent and imagination to fuel the live account of these tales. http//www.myspace.com/jefflaing

CUPLA - Bobby and Billy McAloney are twins one plays guitar and one plays drums. They've had the same musical influences and have played together in the same bands. Now together again in Cupla, the real fun starts as they take their combined decades of experience and start to roll out the good stuff. It's an old fashioned rock band with heart; a bit of Patti Smith, a bit of Lou Reed and a lot of work ethic that's finally paid off. http//www.myspace.com/cupla
